Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Legendary rock band The Beatles have won their first Grammy Awards in nearly three decades, securing the Best Rock Performance category at the 2025 Grammy Awards. The announcement was made during the off-air portion of the ceremony on Sunday night, February 2.
The Best Rock Performance award marks the first Grammy win for The Beatles in the 2025 event, where they were also nominated for Record of the Year for their song Now and Then.
The Beatles took home the prestigious award thanks to Now and Then, a song originally written by the late John Lennon. Dubbed as “the last Beatles song,” Now and Then was initially recorded as a demo by Lennon in 1977. It was intended for The Beatles Anthology in 1995 but was shelved due to technical difficulties.
The new version of Now and Then, released last year, features Lennon’s original vocals from 1970s. The Beatles utilized AI-assisted technology developed by Peter Jackson to restore Lennon’s voice. The instrumental arrangement includes fresh recordings from surviving members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, combined with archival guitar tracks from the late George Harrison recorded in the 1990s.
The Beatles Grammy Awards
This latest win marks The Beatles’ 25th Grammy nomination and their eighth Grammy victory. Their previous Grammy win was in 1997, when they swept all three categories they were nominated in: Best Music Video, Long Form for The Beatles Anthology; Best Music Video, Short Form; and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for Free as a Bird.
The legendary band first won a Grammy in 1965, when they took home awards for Best New Artist and Best Group Performance for A Hard Day’s Night.
