Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — More than 1,500 runners took part in the Sierra Water Festival fun run on Sunday (September 28, 2025) at Kota Baru Parahyangan in Padalarang, West Bandung Regency.
The event featured two categories: a 2.5K “Family Pack” run and a 5K individual race.
Sierra Vice Director Sharon Francine said the festival marked the first time the bottled water company, established in 2005, had organized its own running event.
In previous years, Sierra had mostly served as the official water sponsor for various races. However this time, Sierra had become the organizer.
“This time, we wanted to create a family-friendly theme,” Francine said,
She explained that participants traveled from Garut, Cirebon, Jakarta, and the greater Bandung area.
The event drew strong enthusiasm from thousand participants, in part because of its playful twist as runners carried water guns to soak each other along the route.
“We wanted to make a fun run that both adults and children could enjoy,” Francine said.
Organizers also handed out prizes ranging from electric fans and smartphones to Rp2 million ($120) in cash. In addition, Sierra partnered with Wahoo Waterworld, offering free admission tickets to the water park.
Francine said the company hopes to make the Sierra Water Festival an annual event. “We plan to hold it again next year, and we hope it will be even bigger,” she said.
