Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Tools for Humanity has introduced a new technology called “Proof of Human,” designed to verify and distinguish real humans from artificial intelligence (AI)-generated identities on its ‘World’ platform.

World is an open-source platform developed by Tools for Humanity, a tech company founded by Sam Altman, Alex Blania, and Max Novendstern. The platform integrates Proof of Human technology to authenticate users’ identities securely.

The system employs biometric verification, specifically iris scanning, to differentiate humans from AI. “World is a system that ensures we are all human and allows us to prove our authenticity,” said Wafa Taftazani, General Manager of Tools for Humanity Indonesia, during an event in Jakarta, as reported by VoI.

Verification Process

The verification process is conducted using the Orb, a spherical device equipped with AI-powered neural networks that scan a person’s iris and convert the data into a unique code called a “World ID.”

The introduction of World in Indonesia aims to protect users from digital threats such as identity theft, deepfake scams, and other cyber risks. Notably, World does not collect or store personal data.

The verification process does not require names, addresses, national ID numbers, birth dates, or any other personal information, offering a breakthrough in digital security and privacy protection.

“In the future, we believe the online world should be safe and private. People should no longer need to upload or share personal data with third parties. With World ID, they can prove they are real humans— not bots or AI-generated identities,” Taftazani added.

Adaptations

Currently, World operates in more than 20 countries. In Asia, Indonesia joins a list of adopters that includes Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines.

As part of its expansion, World has deployed Orb devices at 10 locations across Jakarta, including five in South Jakarta, one in North Jakarta, one in Central Jakarta, and two in West Jakarta.

Looking ahead, World plans to collaborate with various stakeholders in Indonesia, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and government agencies, to enhance cybersecurity and drive digital transformation across the country.
