Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — The Indonesian Internet Domain Name Registry (PANDI) has announced its readiness to assist the government in tracking and identifying websites infiltrated with online gambling content through its platform, the Indonesia Domain Abuse Data Exchange (idadx.id).
John Sihar, the Chairman of PANDI, explained that idadx.id was developed to bolster national cybersecurity by tracking and identifying reports from the public about websites containing online gambling, as well as other harmful content like phishing, malware, and pornography.
“We created idadx.id to ensure that websites flagged for negative content can be detected more swiftly,” Sihar said in a statement. “We are fully prepared to support the government in breaking the chain of online gambling that has caused significant harm to the nation,” he added.
Coordinated Efforts with the Government
As the official administrator of the .id domain, PANDI works closely with the Directorate of Government Informatics Application Services (LAIP) under the Ministry of Communications and Digital Technology (Komdigi). This collaboration is particularly crucial when government-associated domains such as .go.id and .desa.id are found to host negative content like online gambling.
“If Komdigi requires data on the total number of .id domains detected with online gambling content, we are ready to provide the report,” Sihar noted. Throughout 2024, idadx.id has identified at least 46,982 URLs compromised with online gambling content.
According to Sihar, idadx.id relies on data sourced from emails and reports submitted by the public and its members. The platform also partners with various cybersecurity services to gather and verify data on cyber threats, thereby enhancing its effectiveness in combating domain abuse.

A key feature of idadx.id is the Breach Identification and Monitoring Assistant (BIMA), an automated tool designed to identify and escalate reports of domain misuse. This bot functions as a proactive crawler that scours the internet for evidence of domain abuse.
“BIMA is engineered to improve efficiency by automatically detecting domain misuse, after which PANDI will issue a notification and proceed with suspension procedures,” Sihar explained.
PANDI’s initiative reflects its strong commitment to addressing the surge of online gambling that has been plaguing the country. By leveraging platforms like idadx.id and tools such as BIMA, PANDI aims to enhance cybersecurity measures and support the government’s efforts to eradicate online gambling activities in Indonesia.
