Jakarta – Approaching the school holiday period, Traveloka, Southeast Asia’s leading travel platform, continues to show an increasing trend in domestic and international travel.

Traveloka’s internal data noted that in the first quarter of 2023, the level of accommodation reservations and airline tickets for domestic travel had returned to pre-pandemic demand levels. As for international travel, an increase of 2 times was recorded for accommodation reservations, especially in Singapore and Japan destinations and almost tripled for air ticket reservations compared to the same period in 2022.

The same data noted that Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea and Australia are still the destinations with the highest demand for international travel. As for domestic travel, Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Bali and Yogyakarta, in addition to Jabodetabek, Surabaya and Medan are the favorite destinations for staycation.

Increased interest in international travel has a significant positive impact on the growth of the tourism industry in Indonesia and contributes to encouraging close collaboration between countries in the tourism sector. As we enter the school holiday period from May to July, the peak season for family vacations, we expect demand for international travel to continue to strengthen,” Iko explained.

Referring to the 2nd World Tourism Barometer 2023 data released by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), international tourism grew 86% in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the same period the previous year. An estimated 235 million tourists traveled internationally in the first three months of 2023, more than double that of the same period in 2022.

This trend of increasing travel is also in line with data from the Central Bureau of Statistics, which states that from January to March 2023, the number of domestic air transport passengers increased by 32.69% compared to the same period in 2022. Likewise, the number of air transportation passengers abroad has increased by almost 8 times compared to the same period the previous year.

Iko added, “We understand that overseas travel requires careful and comprehensive planning that matches consumer aspirations. Therefore, Traveloka is here to provide complete travel solutions to facilitate users in consumer planning. Starting from airline tickets, hotels, attraction tickets, travel insurance, airport shuttle transportation, car rental, overseas internet access, and many more.”

“Welcoming this school holiday period, Traveloka presents Traveloka Travel Fair as a solution to realize dream vacations for families, especially in international destination travel. In addition, we also provide features and products designed to minimize risks and provide peace of mind to consumers in the event of changes to their travel plans.

For example, the refund/reschedule guarantee feature allows consumers to get a 100% refund if they cancel their ticket or change their schedule as desired by purchasing additional insurance,” said Iko.

Traveloka Travel Fair is held simultaneously in 6 countries, namely Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, and Vietnam from May 22 to June 4, 2023. Throughout this period, Traveloka offers discounts on hotels, airline tickets and attractions up to 50% + 30% every day on the Traveloka application.

Traveloka Travel Fair will also be held offline on May 29 to June 4 at Food Society, ground floor of Kota Kasablanka, Jakarta. Consumers who visit the Traveloka booth have the opportunity to get additional benefits such as discount coupons of up to Rp 1 million for exciting stays around the world, as well as more special discounts for stays in various destinations that can be obtained at the Traveloka Travel Fair Hour which is held every 18.00 to 21.00 WIB.
