Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — U.S. President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that Israel and Iran had agreed to a ceasefire following nearly two weeks of escalating conflict in the Middle East. The declaration came through a post on his Truth Social platform, where Trump said a “complete and total” ceasefire.
“It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!),” Trump wrote on Truth Social on June 24, 2025.
Trump added that the ceasefire would allow both sides to complete their objectives peacefully and that each would “remain calm and respectful” during the process.
“On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, ‘THE 12 DAY WAR,” he said.
The announcement came just hours after Iran launched missile strikes on the U.S. Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest American military installation in the Middle East. Tehran claimed the move was in direct retaliation for recent U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel had accepted Trump’s proposal, stating that the country had achieved its strategic goal of neutralizing Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile threats. He warned, however, that Israel would respond “with full force” to any violations of the agreement.

However, Iran denied on Trump’s claims of ceasefire. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denied that a ceasefire had been agreed upon, stating in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that no such deal had been reached.
“As Iran has repeatedly made clear: Israel launched war on Iran, not the other way around,” Araghchi posted. “As of now, there is NO ‘agreement’ on any ceasefire or cessation of military operations.”
He added that if Israel ceased its “illegal aggression” by 4 a.m. Tehran time, Iran would halt its retaliatory actions, but noted that the final decision on ending military operations would be made later.
