Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — At least 12 people have died after consuming tainted alcohol in Central Bogor, Bogor City, and Kademangan Village, Mande District, Cianjur Regency.

“Four people have died, and one person is currently receiving treatment at PMI Hospital. The cause is suspected to be the consumption of ‘Aseng’-type adulterated liquor,” said Agustinus Manurung, as reported by CNN Indonesia.

“A total of eight people have died: G (29), H (34), E (55), S (35), J (43), IN (31), R (29), and El (32). Three of them died at home, and their deaths were confirmed after further investigation and area sweeps in Kademangan Village,” he said.

Authorities are awaiting updated data from police officers and healthcare workers from the local health center. Police are also expecting reports from residents regarding any additional victims who participated in the drinking session.

“We are still collecting data, fearing there may be unreported victims who were affected but have not yet received medical attention. We hope there are no more cases beyond the 12 already recorded,” he said.

Authorities continue to investigate the source of the tainted alcohol and urge the public to remain cautious about consuming illicit beverages. Officials warn that unregulated liquor poses significant health risks and can lead to further tragedies
