Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — A proposed legislation to replace Founding Father Benjamin Franklin’s face on the U.S. $100 bills with President Donald Trump has gain attention online. The Bill was proposed as a way to honor the President’s achievements and marks the beginning of America’s golden age.
The Bill was introduced by Republican Congressman Brandon Gill proposing that Donald Trump’s image replace Benjamin Franklin on the U.S. $100 bills.
The proposed legislation, called the Golden Age Act of 2025, aims to honor Trump’s second term in office, which his supporters have hailed as the beginning of a “golden age for America.”
“No one has contributed more to ushering in America’s golden age than President Trump,” Gill said in a statement on Monday (March 3, 2025), as reported by The Hill. He argued that featuring Trump face on the $100 bill would serve as recognition of the achievements he is expected to make over the next four years.
Gill also shared a digitally altered image of Trump on a $100 bill via his social media account on X (formerly Twitter). “I’m introducing the GOLDEN AGE ACT to put President Donald J. Trump on the $100 bills. Let’s make history,” he wrote.
Trump Face on $100 Bills
The proposal to put Trump image on $100 bills comes just days after another Republican lawmaker, Representative Joe Wilson of South Carolina, announced plans to introduce a $250 bills featuring Trump’s face.
The “Golden Age Act of 2025” is gaining support among GOP members, including Representatives Troy Nehls of Texas and Lauren Boebert of Colorado, who have signed on as co-sponsors.
However, current U.S. law prohibits the depiction of living individuals on currency. For the proposal to move forward, long-standing regulations would need to be amended.
If passed, the bill mandates that the Treasury Secretary release a preliminary design for the $100 bills featuring Trump face by December 31, 2026. It also requires that all $100 bills printed after December 31, 2028, display Trump’s portrait.
The Legacy of Benjamin Franklin on the $100 Bills
Benjamin Franklin, one of America’s most influential Founding Fathers, has been featured on the $100 bills for over a century. According to the Benjamin Franklin History website, Franklin was the only Founding Father to sign three key documents leading to U.S. independence: the Treaty of Alliance with France, the Treaty of Paris, and the Declaration of Independence. He was also a signatory of the U.S. Constitution.
Beyond politics, Franklin was a renowned scientist, inventor, and businessman. His innovations included the lightning rod, bifocal glasses, and the glass harmonica. Franklin also played a significant role in colonial currency design, incorporating anti-counterfeiting measures such as graphite ink and muscovite fibers.

The decision to feature Franklin on the $100 bills was made by the U.S. Treasury Department, recognizing his immense contributions to American history. His image first appeared on the $100 Federal Reserve Note in 1914, based on an 1785 portrait by French artist Joseph-Siffred Duplessis.
Franklin’s continued presence on the $100 bills symbolizes prosperity and intelligence, reinforcing his lasting impact on the United States. While the bill’s design has undergone multiple revisions, Franklin’s image has remained unchanged.
