Bandung, Indonesia Sentinel.com — YouTube has officially launched its YouTube Shopping service in Indonesia, marking the debut of the platform’s affiliate program in collaboration with Shopee. This new feature provide the shopping experience for YouTube users while also allows creators to earn commissions by recommending products.
“YouTube Shopping makes it easier for fans to purchase recommendations from their favorite creators while giving brands the opportunity to collaborate with trusted content creators to promote their products,” said Travis Katz, General Manager and Vice President of Shopping at YouTube, in an official statement on Google’s blog on Friday (September 20, 2024).
“We’re excited to bring this to Indonesia, starting with our partnership with Shopee, following successful launches in the United States and Korea. We believe Indonesian creators will creatively use this feature in their shopping content, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the creator community and the online shopping ecosystem in Indonesia,” Katz added.

Following its launch in Indonesia, YouTube Shopping is set to roll out in two other Southeast Asian countries, Thailand and Vietnam, in the coming weeks.
YouTube Shopping enables creators that met the requirements for YouTube Shopping to showcase branded merchandise and products directly on their YouTube channels. Viewers can explore and purchase products through various features on the platform, including:
- YouTube Creator channel’s store
- Product listings in video descriptions
- Product galleries below or beside Creators videos and live streams
- Shopping buttons on videos, Shorts, and live streams
- Collections of products
Creators can manage and display products across these platforms using YouTube Studio or the YouTube Studio mobile app. Creators can also customize the order of displayed products for individual videos or across their entire channel.
This new service is expected to boost Indonesia’s rapidly growing e-commerce sector, providing an additional avenue for creators and businesses to tap into online shopping trends.
