The Subak system in Bali itself has previously received UNESCO recognition as a world cultural heritage.

“As we know, Subak has received UNESCO knowledge in 2012. And this is very interesting because it is local wisdom that is still very strong and relevant today where we need food security and sovereignty,” Sandiaga Uno said during a visit to the Subak Museum in Tabanan, Saturday (31/12/2022).

He also encouraged the management of the Subak Museum to be maximized by innovating, adapting, and collaborating. Including the addition of attractions so that it can attract greater interest in tourist visits.

“This (Subak Museum) is very interesting and if we add attractions, we will encourage more tourists, especially as an educational tourist destination about irrigation management. We will help promote this Subak Museum so that tourist visits increase,” Sandiaga said.

The existence of the Subak system in Bali itself has had a broad impact, including in the tourism and creative economy sectors. In Bali Province itself, some time ago a cooperation agreement (PKS) was made between the Marriott Group and Balinese MSMEs facilitated by the Bali Provincial Government to supply various needs including rice.

“Tabanan itself is a rice barn not only in Bali but nationally, and yesterday we appreciated the signing of the PKS between the Bali Provincial government and hotels under the Marriott group, which will be mostly supplied from Tabanan. This must be imitated, applied in other regions so that farmers are prosperous, the community’s economy is increasing,” Sandiaga said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Regent of Tabanan, I Made Edi Wirawan, expressed his appreciation for the presence and support of Menparekraf Sandiaga in developing tourism and the creative economy in Tabanan Regency.

“Now our occupancy rate or tourism is at 85 percent, this is extraordinary. Hopefully with the Minister’s visit, tourism in Tabanan will increase,” said I Made Edi Wirawan.

Also present on the occasion were Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Principal Secretary of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani; Director of Regional I Tourism Marketing of the Ministry, R Wisnu Sindhutrisno; and Head of the Communication Bureau of the Ministry, I Gusti Ayu Dewi Hendryani.
