Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — A recent survey by Indonesian pollster Indikator Politik Indonesia has found that the country’s president and military remain the most trusted state institutions among the public.

Conducted in May 2025, the survey measured public trust in the performance of key national institutions, including efforts to combat corruption. The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the president topped the list with the highest confidence ratings.

“Trust in the TNI and the president continues to rank at the top,” said Indikator’s lead researcher, Burhanuddin Muhtadi, as quoted by state news agency Antara on Tuesday (May 27).

Researchers noted that the survey focused solely on institutional trust levels and did not reflect public satisfaction with the individual performance of those institutions.

The survey involved 1,286 respondents and was conducted through phone interviews. Researchers emphasized that the study measured institutional trust rather than individual performance satisfaction.

According to the survey, the Indonesian military (TNI) received the highest level of public trust at 85.7%, while the President gained 82,7%. The Attorney General’s Office ranked third, with 76% of respondents expressing confidence in the institution.

At the bottom of the list were political parties, which garnered the lowest trust rating at just 65%, highlighting ongoing public skepticism toward partisan politics.

Burhanuddin noted the figures reflect public trust in the institutions as entities, not necessarily the individuals within them.
