Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Bank Indonesia (BI) has introduced the “Indonesia Tourist Travel Pack,” a new service offering a fully integrated cashless payment ecosystem for foreign tourists arriving at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali.

“Seamless transactions are an essential part of the tourist experience in Bali,” BI Deputy Governor Fillianingsih Hendarta said on Tuesday on the sidelines of Baligivation 2025 in Denpasar.

As one of the world’s top tourist destinations, she said, Bali is well-positioned to serve as a national model for digital transformation, particularly in payment systems.

To support this, Indonesia’s central bank has partnered with industry stakeholders to establish the new service, which is immediately accessible to international travelers as soon as they exit the airport’s arrival terminal.

Through the initiative, foreign visitors can easily obtain Indonesian mobile SIM cards, chip-based electronic money, and guides for registering local e-wallets.

Beyond payments, BI has also launched a QRIS Nusantara Travel Guide, a handbook promoting the use of Indonesia’s standardized QR code payment system (QRIS) while highlighting top destinations, cultural activities, culinary experiences, and local attractions across the archipelago.

A dedicated tourism information center has also been set up, offering one-stop assistance for travel guidance and support.

“These three initiatives aim to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a tourist-friendly country and accelerate its transition toward a fully digital, cashless tourism ecosystem,” Fillianingsih said.

BI reported that Bali’s economy grew 5.88% in the third quarter of 2025, ranking fourth nationally. Tourism continues to be the island’s main economic driver, contributing 64.29% of Indonesia’s total tourism foreign exchange earnings.
