Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Pertamina Patra Niaga, a subsidiary of PT Pertamina (Persero) focused on commercial and trading activities, has issued a statement addressing allegations from the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) regarding monopolistic practices in the supply of aviation fuel (avtur) in Indonesia.

The company firmly denies any claims of monopoly and asserts that it is open to collaboration with other companies in the avtur market.

Corporate Secretary Heppy Wulansari explained that Pertamina Patra Niaga has always operated in compliance with the regulations governing the aviation fuel sector.

“Pertamina Patra Niaga has never refused cooperation with other businesses or restricted sales to affiliates. Until now, there have been no requests from other General Trade License (INU) holders,” Wulansari clarified on Friday (Sept. 27, 2024).

Wulansari emphasized that Pertamina follows all applicable regulations, including BPH Migas Regulation No. 13/P/BPH Migas/IV/2008, which outlines the provision and distribution of aviation fuel at airports.

This regulation, she noted, aims to prevent monopolistic practices and create a fair, competitive business ecosystem while prioritizing safety, quality, and national interests.

“Pertamina will continue to adhere to government regulations, particularly BPH Migas Regulation 13/2008, which ensures fair competition in the avtur supply market. We are committed to creating a balanced business environment that prioritizes safety and supports national interests,” Wulansari added.

Pertamina Patra Niaga also reaffirmed its role as a key player in supplying avtur across the country. The company currently supplies fuel to 72 Aviation Fuel Supply Depots (DPPU) nationwide, ensuring a steady and reliable distribution network.

“We believe government policies take into account various factors, such as national energy independence, aviation safety, and public interest in maintaining affordable fuel prices,” Wulansari stated.

With this statement, Pertamina seeks to address the KPPU’s concerns and reiterate its commitment to maintaining transparency, fair competition, and compliance in Indonesia’s avtur market.

As a key supplier, Pertamina aims to uphold both domestic and international standards while serving national economic goals.
