Indonesia Trade Expo 2024 Exceeds Expectations with $22.73 Billion in Deals

Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Indonesia 39th Trade Expo (TEI) concluded with an impressive total transaction value of $22.73 billion, surpassing the initial target of $15 billion. The event, held from October 9-12, 2024, drew participation from 1,460 businesses and attracted 41,488 visitors from 140 countries, showcasing Indonesia’s growing appeal in the global trade market.

Indonesian Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, expressed satisfaction with the event’s outcomes, highlighting the benefits it brought to both exporters and buyers. He also noted the continued innovation in the expo’s organization, which featured integrated promotional activities, business matching, counseling, international seminars, forums, and business dialogues.

“We are grateful for the remarkable enthusiasm from exporters, buyers, and investors at this year’s TEI. The expo has provided significant benefits for both sides and continues to innovate with every edition,” Zulkifli Hasan said in a statement on Saturday, October 12, 2024.

India emerged as the top trading partner during the event, contributing $7.46 billion in transactions, or 37.91% of the total. Vietnam followed with $3.67 billion (18.64%), the Netherlands with $2.76 billion (14.03%), the Philippines with $2.25 billion (11.46%), and Egypt with $623.40 million (3.17%).

Key products driving the bulk of the transactions included coal, which accounted for $7.34 billion (37.29%), steel at $2.72 billion (13.85%), palm oil at $1.76 billion (8.94%), logistics services at $1.66 billion (8.41%), and paper at $1.05 billion (5.34%).

Minister Zulkifli expressed his gratitude to all parties involved in making TEI 2024 a success. “I would like to extend my appreciation to all the companies, sponsors, and colleagues at the Ministry of Trade who contributed to the success of the 39th Trade Expo Indonesia. This is my last trade expo as Minister of Trade, and I hope my successor will lead even better ones in the future,” he remarked.

Zulkifli also urged Indonesian businesses to continue producing high-quality goods, developing value-added products, utilizing technology, and adopting sustainable business practices.

“Let’s continue supporting economic growth by collaborating and enhancing the partnerships we’ve built to boost Indonesia’s non-oil and gas exports,” he concluded.
