Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Apple officially launched the iPhone 16e on Wednesday (February 19), introducing the most affordable variant in the iPhone 16 lineup while retaining the same powerful chipset.
“Apple today announced the iPhone 16e, a new addition to the iPhone 16 lineup that delivers advanced capabilities at a more accessible price point,” the company stated on Wednesday (February 19).
Unlike previous budget-friendly models, which carried the “SE” branding, Apple has rebranded the entry-level version as the iPhone 16e, signifying its place within the broader iPhone 16 series.
Pricing and Features
The iPhone 16e offers features comparable to its higher-end counterparts and comes equipped with Apple Intelligence, the company’s new artificial intelligence (AI) system.
The iPhone 16e was priced at $599 (Rp9,8 millions), significantly cheaper than the standard iPhone 16, which starts at $799 (Rp13 millions). Despite its lower price, the device is powered by Apple’s in-house A18 processor, the same chip used in the other iPhone 16 models.
The budget-friendly smartphone features a 48MP Fusion Camera system that combines wide-angle and telephoto capabilities, delivering high-resolution images with balanced lighting and detail.
iPhone 16e has a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display and supports Face ID with a TrueDepth camera for authentication and security.
In terms off battery, Apple claims the iPhone 16e’s battery can last up to 26 hours of video playback, ensuring all-day performance.
The phone is available in three storage options and comes in two color choices: black and white. Here are the official prices:

- iPhone 16e (256GB): $699 (approximately Rp11.4 million)
- iPhone 16e (512GB): $899 (approximately Rp14.7 million)

Additionally, Apple Intelligence supports creative tools such as Image Playground and Genmoji.
Availability and Preorders
According to DetikNet, preorders for the iPhone 16e will begin on Friday, February 21, 2025, with official sales starting a week later on February 28, 2025. However, availability will be limited to 59 countries at launch.
In Southeast Asian, the phone will be released at Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand for the initial rollout. However, Indonesia is not on the list.
Apple’s flagship iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max, first released in September 2024 have yet to be officially launched in Indonesia.
Before able to launches in Indonesia, the iPhone 16e must also comply with the country’s domestic component requirements (TKDN) set by the Ministry of Industry and pass telecommunications certification from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi).
