Asia Media Summit 2023 Has Started Workshop in Bali

Nusa Dua – More than 300 participants of the 18th Asia Media Summit 2023 (18th Asia Media Summit 2023) in Bali have started a series of meetings on Sunday (21/5). The summit, which will be held until May 25, 2023, provides an opportunity for professionals in the broadcasting industry to share ideas on how to enhance the role of media, especially broadcasters, in sustainable development in the region.

The opportunity opened by the TVRI Public Broadcasting Organization (LPP), as the host of the 18th Asia Media Summit, is in accordance with the big theme of the AMS 2023 event, namely “Media Enhancing Economic Sustainability” or the Role of Media in Enhancing Sustainable Economy.

This was emphasized by the President Director of LPP TVRI, Iman Brotoseno, Sunday (5/21/2023) in Nusa Dua, Bali.

“AMS 2023 is an annual activity of Asia-Pacific Institute Broadcasting Development (AIBD) member institutions in Asia Pacific to share their thoughts. In this 18th event, we encourage the role of the media to be more concrete in sustainable development,” he said.

On the first day of the summit, a series of seminars were held with important themes including, The Future of Television, Media Literacy: Creating a more informed society, Leaders for Digital Revolution, Engineering Fundamentals in the Era of Automation.

In the Creating a More Informed Society workshop that will continue tomorrow, Monday (22/5/2023), journalists, content creators, and television producers discussed and sharpened their role in shaping various social narratives that are significant for sustainable development.

The outcome of this session is critical for participants to develop the skills and reinforcement of relevant information needed to promote media literacy.

The workshop will provide 20 to 25 media practitioners from regional broadcasting organizations with the necessary tools and methods to promote media literacy among the general public.

Participants will also reinforce the role of media in encouraging critical thinking and the utilization of their respective platforms to promote media literacy.

TVRI in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) is the organizing committee of the 18th Asia Media Summit 2023 in Bali.

The 18th Asia Media Summit 2023 is an annual event for Asia-Pacific broadcasters to share their thoughts on broadcasting and information.

Decision-makers, media professionals, scholars, and news and program stakeholders from Asia Pacific, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and North America attend this annual summit. (InfoPublik/Photo: TVRI)
