Jakarta, IndonesiaSentine.com — Yahya Cholil Staquf, the Chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), announced plans for the organization to invest in Indonesia new capital, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN).
During a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, August 22, 2024, Yahya expressed his gratitude to President Joko Widodo for granting a mining permit to PBNU.
“We thank the President for the concession that led to the issuance of the mining permit, allowing us to begin mining operations in the designated area,” Yahya stated.
Beyond the mining sector, Yahya revealed PBNU’s interest in broader investments in IKN. “We also informed the President that we intend to invest in the new capital,” Yahya added.

He further explained that PBNU is looking to purchase up to 100 hectares of land in IKN. “God willing, we aim to acquire around 100 hectares of land in IKN to develop facilities for our organization, including educational, healthcare, and religious institutions.”
President Jokowi has reportedly endorsed the plan. Following this, PBNU will begin taking necessary steps and engage in discussions with the IKN authority. “We discussed with the President some recommendations regarding strategic locations for NU to purchase in IKN, and potential facilities that could be built by NU there.”
