Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Bali, Indonesia’s tropical paradise, has been named the “Most Romantic Destination” in the world at the 2024 World Travel Awards, solidifying its reputation as a top getaway for couples seeking unforgettable experiences.

According to News.com.au, Bali edged out iconic rivals such as the Maldives, Saint Lucia, and Mauritius to claim the prestigious title. This marks the first time a Southeast Asian destination and an Indonesian location has achieved this recognition.

Renowned for its pristine beaches, lush landscapes, and rich cultural heritage, Bali has long been a favorite among travelers. However, the island is increasingly sought after by couples looking for romantic escapes, whether for honeymoons, destination weddings, or intimate getaways.

Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism welcomed the award with pride. “This recognition motivates us to continue showcasing Indonesia’s beauty to the world and ensure Bali, along with other destinations, shines even brighter,” the Wonderful Indonesia official website stated.

From the powdery white sands of Jimbaran to the tranquil mountain scenery of Ubud, Bali offers breathtaking backdrops for romance. Luxury stays like the Hanging Gardens of Bali in Ubud and Alila Villas in Uluwatu elevate the experience, pampering couples with world-class hospitality.

Beyond the luxury, Bali’s rich traditions provide couples with unique, meaningful experiences. Visitors can participate in the Melukat ritual—a traditional purification ceremony—at Tirta Empul Temple to renew their love commitments, or explore the island’s iconic temples steeped in spiritual significance.

Top Honeymoon Destination

Bali’s romantic charm has also earned it the title of “Best Honeymoon Destination” in TripAdvisor’s Traveller’s Choice Awards 2024. High-end resorts like the InterContinental Bali in Jimbaran Bay and Hyatt Regency in Nusa Dua remain popular choices for dream weddings and honeymoons.

For couples seeking solitude and adventure, Bali’s hidden gems—such as Nusa Lembongan’s serene coastline, Munduk’s cascading waterfalls, and the island’s lush forests—offer a perfect escape from bustling tourist spots.

From sunset strolls on Nusa Lembongan’s beaches to intimate dinners at Potato Head Village, Bali promises couples lasting memories.

For those planning a romantic getaway, exploring the island’s natural beauty and cultural treasures ensures Bali’s allure lives up to its title as the world’s most romantic destination.
