Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Susie Wiles as his White House Chief of Staff, making her the first woman in U.S. history to hold the position. The announcement was made on Thursday November 7, marking a historic milestone in American politics.

“It is a fitting honor to have Susie as the first female Chief of Staff in U.S. history. I have no doubt that she will make our country proud,” Trump said in a statement quoted by CNN.

Wiles, a longtime adviser to Trump, played a pivotal role in his successful 2024 presidential campaign, serving as his campaign manager. Trump praised her as a “tough, smart, and innovative” leader, admired and respected universally.

Throughout Trump’s first term in office, the Chief of Staff position was held by various figures, including Reince Priebus, General John Kelly, Mick Mulvaney, and Mark Meadows. Wiles’ appointment signals a new chapter as Trump prepares for his second term in the White House.

A Key Ally and Campaign Strategist

Susie Wiles has been one of Trump’s most loyal allies, significantly contributing to his 2020 victory in Florida. After Trump’s presidency, she continued to serve as his de facto Chief of Staff during his post-presidency years, managing key political strategies and operations.

For the 2024 campaign, Trump entrusted Wiles to lead his team as campaign chair, where she orchestrated a more disciplined and effective strategy compared to his previous, often chaotic campaigns. Her organizational prowess helped Trump secure substantial support in regions outside his usual strongholds.

Wiles, who Trump affectionately dubbed the “Ice Maiden,” is known for her preference to operate behind the scenes. In his victory speech in Palm Beach, Florida, Trump acknowledged her as someone who “likes to stay out of the limelight.”

A Force Behind the Scenes

Politico has described Wiles as a “force more felt than seen,” recognizing her skill in keeping Trump’s campaign organized and on message. Unlike previous campaigns marked by impulsive decisions, this year’s effort was noted for its improved structure, largely thanks to Wiles’ influence.

Her extensive knowledge of political campaigns and ability to maintain strong relationships with the media have been key assets. As Trump’s top advisor, she managed to temper his impulsive tendencies not through confrontation, but by earning his respect and demonstrating that he fares better when following her advice.

Donald Trump Victory Speech, Pledges to ‘Make America Great Again’

In one memorable moment during a campaign event in Pennsylvania, Trump reportedly made a controversial statement. Wiles, standing nearby, was able to rein him in with just a stern look—a gesture that insiders say effectively curbed his off-the-cuff remarks.

A New Era for Trump’s White House

According to Reuters, the role of the White House Chief of Staff is traditionally one of immense influence, responsible for overseeing all staff, managing the president’s schedule, and maintaining communication with cabinet members and Congress.

Wiles’ deep experience and strong political connections are anticipated to be crucial in navigating the turbulent landscape of American politics, setting a new tone for Trump’s administration as he returns to the White House.
