Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Garuda Indonesia has resumed its Jakarta – Doha flight service following the reopening of Qatari airspace, which had been restricted due to heightened conflict in the Middle East.

The national flag carrier officially reinstated the route on Saturday, June 28, 2025. “As of Saturday, we will resume round-trip services between Jakarta and Doha after all flight safety requirements for the air corridor to Qatar have been met,” said Garuda Indonesia’s Director of Operations, Tumpal M. Hutapea, in a written statement.

He noted that the decision follows a comprehensive risk assessment and close coordination with Qatar Airways, Garuda’s operational partner. The move also reflects an improving geopolitical climate in the region.

“This decision is backed by information from relevant cross-border aviation authorities, indicating that the situation over Middle Eastern airspace has become increasingly stable,” Hutapea added.

Garuda joins a growing list of international carriers that have resumed flights to Qatar as regional airspace conditions improve.

The airline emphasized that it will continue to closely monitor the situation in coordination with aviation authorities in Indonesia and Qatar, as well as Qatar Airways, to ensure the highest safety standards for its operations. Steps are also being taken to implement service recovery measures efficiently, should disruptions occur.

In addition, Garuda Indonesia is working in partnership with the Indonesian Embassy in Doha and local Qatari authorities to safeguard the security and well-being of all passengers, crew, and personnel currently in affected areas.

Passengers traveling to and from Doha are advised to regularly check their flight status through Garuda Indonesia’s official communication channels.

Garuda had temporarily suspended all services to and from Doha earlier this month, with the suspension initially expected to last through Tuesday, July 1. On Monday, June 23, Garuda flight GA-900, which was en route from Jakarta to Doha, was diverted to Kualanamu International Airport in Medan due to airspace concerns.
