Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Google has introduced updates to its Gemini Live AI feature, now enabling conversations in Indonesian language. The expansion aims to provide a more natural interaction with the AI, facilitating access to information and other Google services in Indonesian.
“Gemini Live now speaks Bahasa Indonesia, allowing users to engage in natural conversations with the AI. Additionally, Gemini will integrate with more Google applications in Indonesian, making it easier to access information and perform tasks across Google services,” Group Product Manager of Gemini Experiences, Jules Walter explained in a Google blog post on Wednesday.
Gemini Live currently supports over 40 languages, including English, German, Italian, and Mandarin. The feature also allows for bilingual conversations, offering users the flexibility to switch seamlessly between Indonesian and another supported language.
“This feature enables interactions with AI to be adapted to the context of the conversation,” said Walter.
However, bilingual support in Gemini Live is limited to specific languages, including:
- Arabic
- English
- French
- German
- Hindi
- Indonesian
- Italian
- Japanese

How to Activate Indonesian in Gemini Live
Enabling Indonesian language on Gemini Live is straightforward. Here’s how to set it up:
- On an Android phone or tablet, open the Google app and tap your profile picture or initial at the top.
- Tap Settings > Google Assistant > Languages.
- Select Bahasa Indonesia or any other supported language.
- You may choose an additional supported language as a second option.
With Gemini Live, users can engage in a conversational style similar to chatting with a friend, whether discussing ideas, exploring topics, or practicing presentations. This feature operates similarly to Google Assistant but offers a more interactive experience, allowing users to interrupt and add to responses, making for a more natural flow of conversation.
“By expanding Gemini Live language availability and app integration, we’re working to unlock the benefits of AI for people worldwide, enabling easier access to information and the advantages of AI-powered assistance,” Walter concluded.
