Jakarta, Indonesia – Legendary punk rock band Green Day delivered an electrifying performance at Pantai Carnaval Ancol on Saturday night, February 15, 2025. Returning to Indonesia after nearly three decades, the trio—Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Mike Dirnt (bass, backing vocals), and Tre Cool (drums)—proved that age is just a number as they rocked the stage with unrelenting energy.
The concert, part of the “Green Day Live in Jakarta” tour, featured a setlist packed with hits and unforgettable moments. One standout highlight was when Billie Joe Armstrong invited a fan onstage during the performance of “Know Your Enemy.”
“I want someone to come up here! Raise your hand if you dare,” Armstrong shouted to the crowd. To everyone’s surprise, a hijab-wearing woman accepted the challenge. Her excitement was palpable as she stood next to the frontman, gamely singing along despite her evident nervousness. As the song reached its climax, the woman leaped from the stage in sync with the dramatic beats, earning cheers and applause from the audience.
Green Day’s signature interactive style kept the crowd engaged throughout the night. Armstrong repeatedly encouraged fans to raise their hands and jump along to the music.
“Come on, Jakarta! Hands up! Let’s go!” he yelled, rallying the audience during the high-energy performance of “Jesus of Suburbia.” Thousands of fans responded enthusiastically, turning the concert venue into a sea of moving lights and raised hands.
Another memorable moment occurred when Armstrong asked fans to turn on their phone flashlights, illuminating the venue with a mesmerizing glow. He also engaged in a playful “cheer-off,” challenging the left and right sides of the crowd to out-shout each other.
“Which side is louder? Let’s hear it!” Armstrong exclaimed. After several rounds, he declared the left side the winner, much to their delight.

The punk rock frontman further thrilled Indonesian fans by picking up the national flag, kissing it, and draping it over his shoulders. This gesture was met with roaring applause.
“It’s been so long—29 years since we were last here,” Armstrong reminisced. Green Day’s first performance in Indonesia was at the Jakarta Convention Center back in 1996.
The evening’s setlist featured both classic hits and newer tracks. They opened with “The American Dream is Killing Me” before transitioning into fan favorites like “Welcome to Paradise,” “Longview,” “Basket Case,” and “When I Come Around.” The crowd sang along to every word of “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” while “American Idiot” and “Holiday” turned the venue into a pulsating mosh pit.
After nearly two hours of non-stop music, Green Day closed the night with the emotional acoustic track “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life),” leaving fans in Jakarta with memories that will last a lifetime.
