Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Herardi Cahya Nagara has made history as the first Indonesian champion of the Microsoft Excel World Championship Indonesia (MEWCI) 2024. Herardi claimed the title after scoring the highest points during the Grand Final of MEWC Indonesia 2024, marking the first time the competition was held in the country. The final took place at Point Arena, Jakarta, on Sunday, October 13, 2024, and featured eight participants from various categories.
Representing the Professional category, Herardi showcased his exceptional skills in solving complex numerical problems using Microsoft Excel formulas, accumulating a top score of 168 points. He outperformed seven other participants, including competitors from the general (Rookie) category, Excel professionals, and representatives from the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN). His score of 168 points significantly surpassed the second and third-place contestants, who both scored 150 points, while the remaining participants earned between 36 and 134 points.
This victory not only secured Herardi the championship title but also earned him the opportunity to represent Indonesia in the Grand Final of the Microsoft Excel World Championship 2024 (MEWC), which will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, on December 4, 2024.
Indonesia to Host First-Ever Microsoft Excel World Championship Stage in October 2024
“With an outstanding performance, Herardi took home a prize of Rp15 million and automatically became Indonesia’s representative for the Microsoft Excel World Championship 2024 in Las Vegas this December,” said a statement on the official Instagram account of @fmwcindonesia.
In Las Vegas, Herardi will compete against champions from various countries, showcasing their data management skills using Excel, with a total prize pool of $37,500, or approximately Rp 575 million. As the MEWC Indonesia 2024 champion, Herardi earned Rp 15 million in cash and a golden ticket to the international competition. If he wins the world title, Herardi will take home the grand prize of $5,000, or about Rp 76.6 million.
Herardi Cahya Nagara achievement marks an important milestone in promoting e-sports based on technical skills, particularly the use of Microsoft Excel, in Indonesia.
