Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Indonesia has officially assumed leadership of the Clean Energy Task Force (CETF) under the ASEAN Council on Petroleum (ASCOPE), taking over from Malaysia.
The handover of leadership took place at the Mid-Year Task Force Meeting held on April 23, 2025 in Singapore. Representing Indonesia in this regional collaboration is Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE), a subholding of state-owned energy giant PT Pertamina (Persero).
“We are honored and proud to be entrusted with leading this Task Force,” said Fadli Rahman, Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development at Pertamina NRE, who spoke on behalf of Pertamina during the handover ceremony.
Pertamina NRE was tasked with advancing clean energy development and supporting the region’s sustainable energy transition. Fadli then reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to accelerating the implementation of clean and sustainable energy, enhancing cross-border cooperation, and aligning ASCOPE’s initiatives with ASEAN’s broader energy transition goals.
“This is a strategic opportunity to strengthen Indonesia’s role in regional cooperation, especially in promoting an inclusive and sustainable energy transition in ASEAN,” he added.
Pertamina NRE’s chairmanship of the CETF underscores Indonesia’s growing influence in ASEAN’s energy sector and its dedication to achieving its national Net Zero Emissions target by 2060. The company continues to focus on expanding renewable energy and green initiatives as part of its long-term sustainability roadmap.
