Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Indonesian Ambassador to Poland, Anita Lidya Luhulima, passed away in Jakarta on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 10:12 p.m. local time. She was 57.

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Warsaw confirmed the news in an official statement posted on social media.

“With heavy hearts, the Indonesian Embassy in Warsaw announces the passing of Her Excellency Anita Lidya Luhulima, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Poland, on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 10:12 p.m. in Jakarta. May she rest in peace,” the statement read.

Luhulima had served as Indonesia’s top diplomat in Poland since her appointment by then-President Joko Widodo on December 17, 2021. Her appointment was based on Presidential Decree No. 139/P, issued on November 16, 2021. She was part of a group of 12 ambassadors sworn in on the same day.

Before taking up the ambassadorial post, Luhulima worked as Secretary of the Directorate General of Multilateral Cooperation at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Throughout her diplomatic career, she was known for her dedication to strengthening Indonesia’s ties with foreign nations, particularly in multilateral forums.

During her tenure in Warsaw, Luhulima played a significant role in promoting bilateral relations between Indonesia and Poland across various sectors, including trade, investment, tourism, and culture. Under her leadership, Indonesia and Poland saw an increase in bilateral trade activities and cultural exchanges, with Indonesian cultural showcases held in major Polish cities.

“She was a committed diplomat who worked tirelessly to enhance Indonesia’s presence in Poland,” said a Foreign Ministry official who requested anonymity. “Her passing is a great loss for Indonesia’s diplomatic community.”

Luhulima was also actively involved in initiatives to attract Polish investment in Indonesia’s renewable energy sector and to boost tourism through promotional events highlighting Indonesia’s natural and cultural heritage.

The Indonesian government is making arrangements for her funeral, and condolences have poured in from Polish officials and the Indonesian diaspora community in Poland.
