Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Indonesian film “Sore : Istri Dari Masa Depan” (Sore : Wife From the Future) has been officially selected to represent Indonesia in the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards (Oscars) in 2025. The announcement marks a major milestone for Indonesia’s film industry and a significant step toward global recognition for local filmmakers.
Directed by Yandy Laurens, “Sore: Wife from the Future” will embark on a special screening tour in Los Angeles and New York City as part of its “For Your Consideration” campaign, a crucial effort to introduce the film to Academy members ahead of voting.
The film is now available on the Academy Screening Room, an exclusive platform for Academy members to view and evaluate international submissions.
The selection was made by the Indonesian Oscar Selection Committee, an independent body formed annually by the Indonesian Film Producers Association (PPFI) and validated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The committee’s mandate is to choose one film deemed most deserving to represent Indonesia at the world’s most prestigious film event.
The U.S. screening series will begin in early November 2025 in Los Angeles before moving to New York City. Director Yandy Laurens, producer Suryana Paramita, and lead actress Sheila Dara are scheduled to attend the events.
“It’s an incredible honor to reach this stage, a truly valuable experience for all of us,” said producer Suryana Paramita in a written statement on Wednesday (November 5, 2025).
