Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has announced plans to merge three public parks in South Jakarta into a single 6.2-hectare green space, creating a new public hub in the bustling Blok M district.
The plan was announced during the launch event for Jakarta’s 498th anniversary on Saturday, themed “Jakarta: A Global and Cultural City,” held at Martha Christina Tiahahu Literacy Park in Kebayoran Baru, Saturday (May 24). Pramono said the project will combine Taman Leuser, Taman Ayodya, and Taman Langsat into a unified, revitalized public space.
“The three parks, Leuser, Ayodya, and Langsat, will be integrated. Construction will begin soon,” Pramono said.
The three parks will be fully renovated and physically connected to form a unified 6.2-hectare public space. Governor Pramono said the new green zone is designed to be an inclusive and accessible area for all residents in Jakarta.
The revitalized park will feature a variety of supporting facilities, including a jogging track and interactive zones aimed at encouraging community activities and social interaction.
Pramono also emphasized the importance of proper amenities, calling for the installation of clean, functional restrooms and other public infrastructure to ensure the park meets the needs of its visitors.
The governor emphasized that the parks will be open 24 hours a day to provide residents in Jakarta with greater access to quality green space. “This open space will be accessible to the public 24/7,” he noted.

Pramono also highlighted the strategic role of the new park in strengthening connectivity within Blok M, an area he described as rapidly developing and well-equipped with modern infrastructure. He envisions the integrated park becoming a model for future public space development across the capital.
“Blok M Hub represents the future of Jakarta,” he stated. Pramono Added that he will personally oversee the project’s progress to ensure its full execution.
In a nod to Jakarta’s role as host of the ASEAN Secretariat, the combined parks will be branded as the ASEAN Park. Pramono said this initiative aligns with the proximity of the parks to the ASEAN headquarters and supports Jakarta’s identity as a central city within the region.
This project will not only enhance public spaces but also serve as a landmark reflecting Jakarta’s growing role as the capital of ASEAN.
