2K and Firaxis Games, the developer behind the franchise, officially announced Majapahit as a playable civilization in Civilization VII. A teaser video showcases the game’s interpretation of this historic empire, set against the soothing notes of a traditional flute. Players are treated to stunning visuals of Majapahit-era architecture, including intricately designed temples and iconic gates.
The Majapahit Kingdom’s unique gameplay strengths lie in its economic and cultural prowess. With gameplay rooted in traditional Indonesian elements, players can immerse themselves in features such as faith systems and cultural hallmarks like gamelan music and wayang performances.
In the game, players will have the opportunity to build the iconic Borobudur Temple as their ultimate landmark, strategically placed near coastal areas. Majapahit also boasts a powerful naval unit, the Cetbang, which reflects the maritime dominance of the historic kingdom.
