Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — The death of Zetro Leonardo Purba, a staff member at the Indonesian Embassy in Peru, remains under scrutiny. New evidence points the possible links to a Peruvian crime syndicate known as “One Family” behind Zetro death.

The gang is notorious for sexual exploitation, contract killings, robberies, extortion, and torture, according to local authorities. Peruvian newspaper La Republica reported that police are now focusing their investigation on a suspect identified as “El Chino,” believed to be a member of the group, and possibly the leader of One Family

“A man known by the alias ‘El Chino’ is likely linked to Zetro’s killing,” a police source familiar with the investigation told La Republica, cited on Monday (September 8).

According to police reports, Danny Alexander Zapata Sosa, better known as “El Chino,” is believed to be the leader of the One Family gang. Authorities allege he runs a criminal network in Lima’s Jiron Risso district that coerces women into prostitution.

While Zetro was not directly linked to the gang, investigators suspect he may have had ties to a woman working in the area. That theory emerged after police examined his cellphone and found several phone numbers believed to belong to women with Venezuelan and Colombian country codes.

“Some of the numbers appeared to belong to young women with Venezuelan and Colombian codes. They are still being traced. It seems he often visited the area,” La Republica reported.

Police say the connection between Zetro and the suspect remains under investigation. Security forces have been deployed to the Risso district as part of the ongoing probe.
