Hannover, Indonesia Sentinel – The Indonesian Pavilion attracted the attention of visitors to the Hannover Messe 2023 Exhibition. The 3000 m2 area displays various technological developments in Indonesia, especially in the application of industry 4.0 in the manufacturing sector.

One of the attractions is the Pneumatic Angklung showcase, which is the work of the nation’s children led by Darwis Nasution (programmer) and composer Ari Parikesit, in collaboration with PT Festo Indonesia.

The development of this pneumatic technology angklung has been carried out since 2020, using automation technology, fast switching solenoid, fluidic muscle DMSP, toothed belt axes with recirculation ball bearing, and motor controller. The fluidic muscle, DMSP, is a tensile actuator that mimics the natural movement of a muscle, consisting of a contractible tube and a corresponding connector, so it can produce movements like an angklung player.

During the opening of the Indonesian Pavilion, this modern angklung played Tanah Airku and Manuk Dadali in front of Indonesian President Joko Widodo and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. On the occasion, Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE) Taufiek Bawazier emphasized that the government is committed to continuing to encourage the implementation of industry 4.0 in the manufacturing sector according to the Making Indonesia 4.0 road map initiated by the Ministry of Industry. “The application of technology such as angklung is one of the clear proofs that the national industry and its human resources are technologically capable of competing in the global market,” he said.

PT Festo Indonesia is one of the co-exhibitors who is an important partner in the Making Indonesia 4.0 program, especially related to HR competency development. Together with the Ministry of Industry, Festo has developed and implemented a qualification program to become an Industry 4.0 Transformation Expert, which has successfully trained and certified 160 people from various industries.

In 2023, training for 400 people from the national manufacturing industry is planned. The Ministry of Industry has also established a Cyber Physical Laboratory at the Denpasar Industrial Training Center (BDI) for the education and training of Indonesian professionals.

“The government and domestic companies have realized that they can only compete in the global market if they have a qualified workforce,” explained Hartono Indra, General Manager of PT Festo Indonesia. In addition, teacher qualifications at polytechnics and vocational schools play a key role in preparing trainees and students for Industry 4.0.

PT Festo Indonesia, together with the Ministry of Industry, runs a newly developed training program for teachers to become “Industry 4.0 Transformation Managers”, which is increasingly needed by teachers.

On Monday, April 17, 2023, located in Hannover, Germany, a cooperation agreement in the field of Learning System Development and Medical Grade Ventilators was signed between the Director of PT Stechoq Robotika Indonesia Malik Khaidir and General Manager of PT Festo Hartono Indra.

This MoU is intended to establish technical cooperation that strengthens business relations and collaborates in technical cooperation to increase trade as well as economic, industrial and scientific-technical cooperation, especially in the field of learning system development, and medical grade ventilators between Indonesia and Germany.
