Jakarta – National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has officially established the Task Force for Handling Trafficking in Persons (TPPO). This is a follow-up to the direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Police spokesperson Inspector General Sandi Nugroho said the task force was led by Deputy Head of the Criminal Investigation Agency, Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri.

Then, the Deputy Chairperson of the TPPO Task Force is Kakorbinmas Baharkam Polri, Inspector General Hary Sudwijanto.

According to Inspector General Sandi, the TPPO Task Force was formed in each Polda under the auspices of the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit, and is headed by the Deputy Chief of Police in each region.

“Public relations monitors the results of mapping and disclosure of human trafficking crimes by both the central and regional task forces, and mitigates this information to media friends,” he said.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo also instructed his ranks to take firm action regarding TPPO cases which have become a serious concern of the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Police ranks who cannot uncover TPPO cases in their area will face serious consequences.

They will be prosecuted and removed from their positions as a form of responsibility for handling this crime.
