Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — President Prabowo Subianto welcomed Chinese Premier Li Qiang during his official state visit to Indonesia. The meeting high-level meeting between the leader of Indonesia and China resulted in a series of memorandums of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto welcomed Chinese Premier Li Qiang in Jakarta on Wednesday (May 25, 2025), marking the Chinese leader’s official state visit and celebrating 75 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

The high-level meeting, held at Merdeka Palace, culminated in the signing of multiple memorandums of understanding (MoUs) across a range of strategic sectors.

“Indonesia is committed to building a safe and prosperous region,” President Prabowo said during bilateral talks. “We are ready to strengthen cooperation with China to create a peaceful and secure environment for all.”

Premier Li expressed appreciation for Indonesia’s invitation, highlighting the historic nature of the visit. “President Prabowo, I am honored to undertake this official visit on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Indonesia,” Li said.

Key MoUs Signed Between Indonesia and China

Here are key MoU signed by both country:

  1. Local Currency Transactions: An MoU between Bank Indonesia and the People’s Bank of China to establish a framework for bilateral transactions using local currencies.
  2. Economic Development Policy: A cooperation agreement between Indonesia’s National Economic Council and China’s National Development and Reform Commission.
  3. Industrial and Supply Chain Collaboration: A pact between Indonesia’s Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and China’s Ministry of Commerce to enhance industrial and supply chain partnerships.
  4. Twin Industrial Parks: A trilateral agreement between Indonesia’s Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, China’s Ministry of Commerce, and the Fujian Provincial Government for the “Two Countries, Twin Parks” initiative.

Agreements Across Eight Additional Sectors

In addition, the Indonesian government and the People’s Republic of China have agreed to cooperate across eight key sectors, including the following:

  1. Tourism: MoU between Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
  2. Agricultural Exports: Agreement between Indonesia’s quarantine agency and China’s General Administration of Customs.
  3. Traditional Medicine: Collaboration between Indonesia’s Ministry of Health and China’s National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
  4. Tuberculosis Control: A health partnership on TB prevention and control between Indonesia’s Ministry of Health and China’s Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
  5. Investment Cooperation: Deal between Indonesia’s Danantara and the China Investment Corporation.
  6. Strategic Business Partnership: MoU between the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and the China Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia.
  7. Media Collaboration: Agreement between Indonesian news agency Antara and China Media Group.
  8. News Agency Cooperation: MoU between Antara and Xinhua News Agency.

The visit underscores deepening ties between Indonesia and China, as both countries look to expand cooperation in trade, infrastructure, health, and media.
