Jakarta, IndonesiaSentinel.com — The Bati Tribe, a mysterious and feared group from Seram Island in Maluku, Indonesia, has long captured the imagination of locals and outsiders alike.

Known for their terrifying appearance and mythical abilities, the Bati Tribe are said to possess the form of humans with bat-like wings, allowing them to fly. Despite the lack of concrete evidence to support their existence, the legend of the Bati has been passed down through generations, and many in the region firmly believe in their presence.

Here are 4 chilling facts about the Bati Tribe:

1. Preys on Children
The people of Maluku believe that the Bati are terrifying creatures that feed on human flesh, particularly targeting young children.

2. Terrifying Appearance
The Bati are described as having a fearsome physical appearance. Accounts suggest they have a human-like body but with bat wings and a blood-red complexion.

Their wings are reportedly massive, and they possess a long, pointed tail. Some stories depict them as large, ape-like creatures. They are believed to live in the mountains, only emerging after sunset.

3. Inescapable Death for Victims
Eastern Indonesian communities hold that the Bati are invincible. Once they capture a victim, escape is impossible, and anyone who dares to fight them is doomed to die. This is attributed to the Bati’s powerful mystical abilities, which make them nearly impossible to defeat.

4. A Blend of Myth and Reality
Despite the enduring tales, there is no definitive proof of the Bati’s existence. This has led many to dismiss the stories as mere myths or fabrications.

However, belief in the Bati remains strong, as numerous people claim to have seen these creatures, describing them exactly as their ancestors did.
