Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — The Indonesian Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) has officially appointed Simon Mantiri as the new CEO of PT Pertamina (Persero), replacing Nicke Widyawati. The appointment was made during a General Meeting of Shareholders (RUPS) held on Monday, November 4, 2024, marking a significant leadership change in Indonesia’s state-owned oil and gas company.
In his first statement as CEO, Mantiri expressed a strong commitment to leading Pertamina toward a prosperous future, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and dedication within the organization.
“I am committed to guiding Pertamina toward a brighter future, backed by the collaboration and dedication of the entire Pertamina family,” he stated on Pertamina’s Instagram account on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
Mantiri emphasized that he views his role not merely as a successor but as a continuation of the leadership legacy established by Nicke Widyawati. “I am not simply replacing Ms. Nicke Widyawati; I am carrying the leadership torch forward,” he explained, expressing his dedication to the responsibilities entrusted to him.
With his appointment, Mantiri pledged to advance Pertamina’s growth and ensure the company remains competitive in the energy sector. “We must drive Pertamina to achieve greater progress and excellence in the future,” he affirmed.
The decision, as outlined in SK-258/MBU/11/2024 and SK-259/MBU/11/2024, also introduced a new Board of Commissioners, appointing Mochamad Iriawan as Chief Commissioner, Dony Oskaria as Deputy Chief Commissioner, and Raden Adjeng Sondaryani as Independent Commissioner.

Pertamina’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, explained that the appointment and dismissal of directors and commissioners in state-owned enterprises, including Pertamina, is under the government’s authority, represented by the Minister of BUMN. “Leadership changes are a routine and natural process in accordance with the established regulations,” said Fadjar.
He added that the new leadership would bring renewed energy to drive Pertamina’s sustainable growth, using the strong foundation laid by the previous board to enhance national energy security and independence.
