Bali, Indonesia Sentinel — As Bali gears up for the 2025 New Year’s Eve celebrations, local authorities are stepping up efforts to mitigate severe traffic congestion, which is common during the festive period.

Bali Police Chief, Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya, announced a series of measures to manage traffic flow across critical areas such as tourist hotspots, main roads, and Ngurah Rai International Airport. The goal is to ensure smooth and safe travel for both residents and visitors during the holiday season.

Traffic Management Strategies

“To maintain smooth traffic flow during the New Year’s Eve celebrations, we have implemented several strategies,” said Chief Adityajaya during a press briefing in Sanur, Denpasar, on Monday, December 30, 2024.

The measures include traffic engineering, opening alternative routes, and setting up additional security posts in high-risk congestion areas. These efforts aim to alleviate bottlenecks in popular destinations and main roads frequently used during the holidays.

The police are also collaborating with the Department of Transportation and other relevant agencies to optimize traffic management, particularly in areas expected to experience heavy vehicle volume due to the influx of tourists.

Collaborative Efforts and Public Awareness

Recognizing the critical role of cooperation, Chief Adityajaya emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration to minimize potential traffic disruptions. “We are working closely with transportation authorities and other stakeholders to ensure a seamless travel experience for everyone,” he explained.

In addition to enforcement measures, the police urged the public to plan their journeys carefully and consider using public transportation to reduce the burden on the island’s road networks.

“We encourage people to schedule their trips thoughtfully and opt for public transport whenever possible. Reducing personal vehicle use can significantly ease traffic congestion,” Adityajaya added.

Holiday Travel Tips

To assist travelers, Bali authorities have identified key alternative routes and established checkpoints at strategic locations to monitor and manage vehicle movement. Tourists heading to major attractions, such as Ubud, Kuta, and Seminyak, are advised to use designated parking areas and shuttle services to minimize road congestion.

Adityajaya assured that all measures aim to create a safe and pleasant New Year’s Eve experience for everyone. “Our hope is for the public to celebrate the New Year safely and comfortably. With the traffic management strategies in place, we are confident the festivities will proceed smoothly without major disruptions,” he concluded.

A Safe Start to 2025

As Bali prepares to welcome thousands of revelers, the local government’s proactive approach reflects its commitment to ensuring the island remains a world-class destination for holiday celebrations. By prioritizing effective traffic management, Bali aims to deliver a memorable and stress-free experience for all visitors entering the new year.
