Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Iran has vowed to continue its retaliatory strikes against Israel as long as what it calls the “Zionist military aggression” persists.

The remarks was stated by Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammad Boroujerdi during a press conference held in Jakarta on Tuesday, June 17.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is responding in a measured and proportional manner, based on the scale and nature of Israel’s aggression toward our territory,” Boroujerdi said.

He claimed that since June 13, Israel has launched large-scale attacks on several key cities in Iran, damaging civilian infrastructure, government buildings, transportation networks, defense facilities, and even nuclear sites.

Boroujerdi said the attacks have killed several prominent Iranian figures, including military commanders, scientists, academics, and civilians which among them women and children.

He also accused Israel of deliberately targeting economic infrastructure, such as oil refineries and fuel distribution centers.

The ambassador dismissed Israel’s justification of self-defense as “baseless” and “in clear violation of international law,” citing Article 2, Paragraph 4 of the United Nations Charter, which prohibits the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.

“We reject Israel’s self-defense narrative. Iran has the legitimate right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter and will exercise that right in a proportional and targeted manner,” he said.

Boroujerdi emphasized that Iran’s countermeasures would mirror the nature of any Israeli strikes. “If they attack our military facilities, we will respond by targeting their military assets. If they strike our economic infrastructure, we will retaliate against their economy. But all of our actions will be proportional and precisely directed,” he added.

He also accused Israel of consistently violating international humanitarian law and human rights, describing its actions as part of a long-standing expansionist agenda and systemic violence against Muslim nations.

“The Zionist regime continues to divide the Islamic world and commits genocide in pursuit of territorial gains,” Boroujerdi alleged.

The ambassador urged the United Nations Security Council to take immediate action to halt what he called Israel’s “increasingly brutal and inhumane assaults.” He also called on the international community not to remain silent in the face of ongoing violations committed by Tel Aviv.
