Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Donald Trump has been declared the winner of the 2024 U.S. presidential election after securing 277 electoral votes, surpassing the required threshold of 270. His victory over Democratic candidate Kamala Harris was confirmed early Wednesday morning, November 6, at around 5:30 a.m. local time.
With 70,871,620 votes (51.0%) in the popular vote, Donald Trump also emerged as the popular vote winner, while Harris trailed with 65,963,074 votes (47.5%). His victory was clinched after winning in several critical swing states, including Wisconsin, Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Georgia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
Trump initially declared victory after reaching 267 electoral votes, shortly before Wisconsin was called in his favor. Speaking on CNBC International, he vowed to “help our country recover” and focus on addressing critical national issues. “We are making history tonight because we overcame unprecedented challenges, and it’s now clear we’ve achieved the most extraordinary political victory our nation has ever seen,” he remarked.
The 78-year-old Republican will return to the White House after serving a previous term from 2017 to 2021, making him the first U.S. president in over a century to win a second, non-consecutive term. Trump’s campaign faced unique challenges, as he is currently awaiting a November 26 trial date in New York for fraud charges—making him the first U.S. president-elect facing a criminal conviction.
In his acceptance speech, Trump extended gratitude to the American people for what he described as an “extraordinary honor” to serve again. “I won’t rest until we have created a strong, safe, and prosperous America,” he declared. “Every day, I will fight for you, your family, and your future with every breath in my body. This will truly be America’s golden age.”
Expressing confidence in his mandate, Trump claimed his electoral vote total may rise to 315 once all final counts are completed. “We will make you very happy and proud with your vote,” he said. “I hope that one day, when you look back, you’ll remember this as one of the most significant moments in your life—a moment where you chose a group of great people who will now help steer America into a prosperous future.”
Trump also took time to thank several key figures who supported him throughout the campaign. These included Senate Republican leader Mike Johnson, his wife Melania, and his children and grandchildren. He extended special recognition to Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, calling him a “new star” for dedicating time and resources to campaign efforts in Pennsylvania.

“This has been an incredible journey. Thank you to everyone here. But let me tell you, we have a new star—Elon,” Trump noted, expressing his appreciation for Musk’s commitment. “He spent two weeks in Philadelphia and various parts of Pennsylvania campaigning for us.”
With his victory secured, Trump’s administration will now focus on addressing key issues such as border security, national prosperity, and strengthening America’s global standing. The 2024 election marks a historic moment in U.S. politics as the country welcomes a familiar, yet newly emboldened, leader to steer its course over the next four years.
