Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Indonesia’s Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, Abdullah Azwar Anas, announced that the government is prioritizing life-journey-based electronic government services (SPBE). This system aims to simplify and integrate services for citizens, covering every key stage of life—from birth, education, vehicle ownership, marriage, and business to death.
The initiative, which follows President Joko Widodo’s directive, seeks to streamline these processes digitally life journey, eliminating administrative burdens.
Some local governments have already integrated aspects of these services, like online driver’s licenses and digital identification cards (IKD), replacing physical IDs for tasks such as boarding flights.
Currently, the ministry is testing a fully integrated mobile system, allowing citizens to manage their data, apply for services, and handle life events like divorce or death certificates, directly through their smartphones.
“We are continuously testing this system to ensure services can be managed via mobile phones,” Anas explained at the National Coordination Meeting on Monday, September 23, 2024.
