Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Jakarta’s Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) is fully prepared to secure the presidential inauguration of Indonesia newly elected President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. A total of 6,757 combined personnel will be deployed to ensure the safety of the high-profile event.
“The security force involves 6,757 personnel,” said Jakarta Police spokesperson Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi in a statement to reporters on Thursday, October 17.
According to Ade Ary, the security team consists of 4,100 personnel from the Polda Metro Jaya task force, 1,667 from local police units within the jurisdiction, 857 from Central Jakarta Metro Police, and an additional 133 personnel from local government agencies and other relevant stakeholders. He highlighted that several key targets will be the focus of the security operation.
“Our security targets include the President and Vice President, invited foreign dignitaries, VIP and VVIP vehicles, the DPR/MPR RI building, the routes that the President and Vice President will take, and other vital locations,” he explained.
Ade Ary further noted that traffic management would be adjusted based on the situation. He called on all parties to maintain order and urged the deployed personnel to conduct their duties with a humane approach.
“The goal is for the inauguration to proceed smoothly, safely, and in an orderly manner. We expect our officers to ensure security with a human touch,” he added.

The presidential inauguration of Indonesia President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka is set for Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the DPR/MPR RI building in Senayan, Central Jakarta.
Other candidates from the 2024 presidential race, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD, have also been invited to the ceremony. Additionally, representatives from several friendly nations are expected to attend the event.
