Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — Hollywood icon Tom Cruise has officially landed a Guinness World Record for his jaw-dropping stunt work in the Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (2025).

According to CNN, the 61-year-old actor now holds the title for “most burning parachute jumps by an individual,” completing an astonishing 16 fiery skydives during the filming.

Footage released by Paramount Pictures on YouTube shows Cruise meticulously planning the fire-stunt with a stunt coordinator, then executing the dangerous jumps in rapid succession, each one showcasing his unmatched dedication to realism and spectacle.

In each attempt, Tom Cruise leapt from a helicopter with a parachute drenched in fuel and set ablaze, before cutting away the charred chute mid-air and deploying a backup to land safely.

No other actor or stunt performer has attempted such a high number of perilous parachute jumps in one production, making Cruise’s commitment to pushing the limits of on-screen realism all the more remarkable, and ultimately earning him the Guinness World Record.

“Tom is the ultimate action hero,” said Craig Glenday, Editor-in-Chief of Guinness World Records, in a statement Thursday. “Much of his success comes from his relentless commitment to authenticity and pushing the limits of what an action star can do.”

Tom Cruise is no stranger to performing his own high-risk stunts. In Dead Reckoning Part One (2023), he famously drove a motorcycle off a cliff before parachuting to safety.

In The Final Reckoning, beyond the burning parachute jumps, Cruise also reportedly performed underwater scenes without proper diving equipment.

The film, billed as Cruise’s final turn as IMF agent Ethan Hunt, has received largely positive early reviews. However, when asked at Cannes whether this really marks the end of his journey with the franchise, Cruise stayed vague, refusing to confirm a definitive farewell.

The eighth and latest installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise, The Final Reckoning (2025), has taken action filmmaking to new heights.

Meanwhile, Tom Cruise daring performance has earned him a Guinness World Record for completing the most burning parachute jumps by an individual.
