Bandung, Indonesia Sentinel — According to Omdia 2024 first half report on the top 10 most popular smartphones globally, Apple continues to reign supreme, with the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 taking the top two spots. On the Android front, Samsung’s Galaxy A15 4G emerged as the best-performing device. This report has listed and ranked smartphones based on the number of shipments globally.
The report from the market research firm reveals that the iPhone 15 Pro Max led global smartphone shipments in the first half of 2024, with an impressive 21.8 million units shipped. This marks the second consecutive year where the Pro Max model has taken the top spot, following the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s success last year.
In second place, the standard iPhone 15 accounted for 17.8 million units shipped during the same period.
Samsung’s Galaxy A15 4G claimed third place, making it the best-selling Android smartphone globally, with 17.3 million units shipped. Priced at around $129, this budget-friendly device has become the most popular low-end smartphone in the market.
Samsung also had a strong showing overall, with four of its devices making the top 10. The Galaxy S24 Ultra secured fifth place with 12.6 million units shipped, and the Galaxy A15 5G came in seventh with 12.2 million units. The Galaxy A05 rounded out the top 10, shipping 10 million units in the first half of 2024.
Xiaomi’s Redmi 13C was another notable Android entry, placing eighth with 11.8 million units shipped.

Nevertheless, Apple’s dominance is still evident, as it accounted for half of the top 10, while Android phones made a name for two of the top five entries.
