Tourist Visits to Indonesia in May 2023 Up 9.21 Percent

Jakarta – The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) noted that foreign tourist arrivals in Indonesia in May 2023 reached 945.59 thousand visits. This number increased by 9.21 percent compared to April 2023 (month to month).

Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, Central Bureau of Statistics, Pudji Ismatrini at a press conference on Monday (3/7/2023) said that compared to the same month last year (year on year), it rose 166.42 percent.

“Foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in May 2023 were dominated by foreign tourists from Malaysia 17.89 percent, Australia 12.04 percent, Singapore 10.65 percent, China 6.77 percent, and India 6.63 percent,” Pudji said.

Cumulatively, foreign tourist visits in January to May 2023 increased by 312.91 percent compared to the same period in 2022.

Pudji also said the increase in visits was mainly recorded at the Ngurah Rai and Soekarno Hatta airport gates, increasing by 882.11 percent and 335.91 percent respectively.

The number of foreign tourists who came to Indonesia according to the mode of transportation was through the air entrance of 659,064 visits, through the main sea entrance of 102,839 visits, and through the main land entrance of 13,016 visits.
