Bandung, IndonesiaSentinel.com — A 15-year-old boy in India died last week after an alleged case of malpractice by a fake doctor in Bihar’s Saran district, sparking outrage across the community. According to India Today, the teenager died following gallbladder surgery performed by an unqualified doctor who reportedly relied on Youtube videos for guidance. The suspect, Ajit Kumar Puri, has since fled the scene.
The boy’s family had taken him to Puri’s clinic in Madhaura on Friday, September 6, 2024, after he complained of vomiting and severe abdominal pain. Despite concerns about Puri’s qualification as a doctor, they trusted him to provide basic care. However, they were shocked when the doctor insisted that the boy required immediate surgery.
Family members claim that Puri proceeded with the operation without their knowledge or consent. “We just wanted the vomiting to stop. But the doctor went ahead with the surgery without informing us,” the family stated. They also alleged that Puri was watching YouTube tutorials on his phone to guide him through the operation.

Rather than improving, the boy’s condition worsened during the surgery. When the family raised concerns, Puri reportedly responded, “Am I the doctor here, or are you?”
As the boy’s condition deteriorated, Puri arranged for an ambulance to transfer him to a hospital in Patna. Tragically, the boy, identified as Krishna, passed away on the way. The family accused Puri and his staff of abandoning the boy’s body at the hospital before fleeing.
The family has since filed a formal complaint with local authorities, accusing Puri of negligence and malpractice. They claim his lack of qualifications and inexperience led to the boy’s death. An autopsy is being conducted on the boy’s body as part of the investigation.
The incident has sparked outrage in the local community and across the state. Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and are actively searching for the ‘fake doctor’ and the remaining staff from the now-abandoned clinic, Ganpati Seva Sadan, India. Patients in the hospital were left unattended as the staff fled following the incident.
