Surabaya – Airlangga University (UNAIR) reputation is increasingly taken into account in the eyes of the world. This is proven by Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings (QS WUR) which announced that UNAIR is ranked 345th in the world’s best universities for 2024.
The new position achieved by UNAIR is 24 levels higher than the previous position of 369.
Rector of Airlangga University Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE MT Ak said that this achievement was due to UNAIR’s efforts in improving its quality aspects.
This ranking is an illustration of Unair’s reputation in the world. “This ranking reflects UNAIR’s position in the world which has improved,” he said, in a release received on Monday (3/7/2023).
As for the strategy carried out by UNAIR in improving its quality, Prof. Nasih called it SMART University. “We always focus on improving the quality of various things done together,” he said.
The first strategy is Sustainable education for all. Second, Meaningful research and community services. Third, Advancing innovation, enterprising, and industry linkages. Fourth, Responsive and learn management. Fifth, Topping up resource utilization.
Indicators Assessed
Unair’s current position cannot be separated from the ranking results of several indicators assessed. In the indicator of employer reputation or reputation of graduates in the world of work, Unair is ranked 95th in the world with an increase of 30 points compared to before.
This indicator is important for higher education institutions because it is a measure of the quality and relevance of education carried out.
“Alhamdulillah, this achievement is very pleasing but on the other hand, we have a big responsibility,” he said.
This achievement is proof that the improvements in terms of education and teaching made by Unair have produced a significant impact.
“This position is a mirror of how we make improvements in terms of education and teaching. So that Unair graduates have high competitiveness and are able to be absorbed in the world of work with a good position,” said the Rector.
Another indicator is academic reputation. In this indicator, Unair is ranked 254th in the world with an increase of 23 points. Research conducted by Unair is an effort made to develop knowledge.
Prof. Nasih revealed that as of June 2023 the number of reputable scientific journal publications is number 1 in Indonesia.
The number of publications up to this semester is in a very good position. The number of UNAIR scientific journal publications with the highest reputation is number 1 in Indonesia.
“This is a fantastic development,” explained the professor of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Unair.
In addition, there are also other indicators assessed such as the ratio of students in the faculty, international faculty, sustainability, employment outcomes, the number of citations per faculty, international research networks, and international students.
Tips for Leading Unair
Prof. Nasih also shared his tips in leading Unair as one of the world-class universities.
According to him, the important thing to do is to mobilize all components to be committed to the existing vision.
