Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced on Tuesday, November 26, that Daniel Andreas San Diego, one of its most-wanted terrorists, has been captured in the United Kingdom. San Diego, 46, has been on the FBI’s “most wanted terrorists” list for nearly 20 years due to his alleged role in two 2003 office building bombings in San Francisco.
According to The Guardian, San Diego was apprehended on Monday, November 25, at a rural property near a forest in Conwy, North Wales, during a joint operation involving the UK’s National Crime Agency, Counter-Terrorism Police, and North Wales Police, coordinated with the FBI.
The arrest was made at the request of U.S. authorities, who are seeking San Diego’s extradition. As an American citizen, he will be returned to the U.S. to face charges. San Diego appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday for the start of the extradition process and remains in custody.
Linked to Animal Rights Extremism
According to the FBI’s wanted poster, San Diego is believed to have ties to extremist animal rights groups. Described as a committed vegan, he was also identified as armed and dangerous, sporting several tattoos, including images of a hillside and a burning building.
The poster detailed his alleged involvement in two bombings. On August 28, 2003, two bombs exploded an hour apart at the campus of a biotechnology company in Emeryville, San Francisco, California. Another incident occurred on September 26, 2003, when bomb strapped with nails exploded at a nutritional products company in Pleasanton, also in the San Francisco Bay Area.

In July 2004, San Diego was indicted in the Northern District of California for his alleged connection to the bombings. He became the first alleged domestic terrorist to be added to the US agency’s most wanted terrorists list.
Decades-Long Search Ends
The FBI had offered a reward of up to $250,000 (Rp3.96 billion)for information leading to San Diego’s arrest and considered him armed and dangerous.
“Daniel San Diego’s capture, after more than 20 years on the run for his role in two bombings in the San Francisco area, underscores that no matter how long it takes, the FBI will find you and hold you accountable,” said FBI Director Christopher Wray.
San Diego’s arrest marks the culmination of a decades-long manhunt, highlighting the commitment of international law enforcement to pursuing justice.
