Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — The Indonesian government is set to modernize its tax administration by transitioning to the Coretax System for filing annual income tax returns (SPT) starting with the 2025 tax year. Taxpayers will be required to use the new platform, coretaxdjp.pajak.go.id, beginning in 2026, effectively retiring the previous electronic filing identification number (EFIN).

This transition is part of a broader effort by the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) to streamline tax reporting and improve efficiency in tax administration.

Coretax Key Changes in the Tax Filing Process

The Coretax system introduces significant changes:

  1. Discontinuation of EFIN: Taxpayers will no longer need EFIN for resetting passwords or filing tax returns.
  2. Platform Migration: The current platform, djponline.pajak.go.id, will remain in use only for the 2024 tax year filings, which are due in early 2025.

The DJP announced the changes on its official Instagram account, emphasizing that the Coretax system will simplify the process for both individual and corporate taxpayers.

Coretax Filing Process for 2024 Tax Year

While the Coretax system will streamline future filings, taxpayers must still use the DJP Online platform for the 2024 tax year. Here’s a step-by-step guide for filing on the current platform:

  1. Visit www.pajak.go.id using a smartphone or computer.
  2. Log in using your NIK/NPWP, password, and security code.
  3. Navigate to the “e-filing” section and select the appropriate SPT form (e.g., 1770 or 1770 S).
  4. Fill out the form, including income details, assets, liabilities, and tax status (e.g., no tax due, underpaid, or overpaid).
  5. Agree to the terms, verify your submission with a code sent to your email or phone, and submit the SPT.
  6. Save the electronic receipt sent to your email for your records.

Acquiring or Recovering EFIN for 2024 Filing

If you need EFIN for filing your 2024 tax return, here’s how to get or recover it:

For New EFIN Requests:

  1. Email your nearest tax office with “Permintaan EFIN” in the subject line. Include your name, NPWP, NIK, phone number, and active email address.
  2. Attach scanned copies or photos of your ID (KTP), tax ID (NPWP), and a selfie holding both documents.
  3. Wait for the tax office to email your EFIN.

If You’ve Forgotten Your EFIN:

  1. Email lupa.efin@pajak.go.id with “LUPA EFIN” as the subject.
  2. Provide your registered email, NPWP, name, registered address, and phone number.
  3. Alternatively, contact your local tax office or the DJP call center at 1500-200.

Implications of the Coretax System

The introduction of Coretax is expected to enhance the efficiency of Indonesia’s tax system by integrating modern digital tools. This change reflects the government’s commitment to improving tax compliance and supporting Indonesia’s digital transformation agenda.

For taxpayers, the shift means adapting to a new platform but also benefiting from a more streamlined and user-friendly filing experience in the long term.
