Jakarta, IndonesiaSentinel.com — Ali Mochtar Ngabalin, a Senior Expert at the Presidential Staff Office, revealed that there is a proposal from regional cadres to appoint President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Golkar Party.
Ngabalin mentioned that this proposal emerged during the 11th National Congress (Munas XI) of the Golkar Party, held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) in Senayan, Central Jakarta, beginning on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
“In this forum, yes, now this aspiration is continuing to develop, and from the regions represented at this Munas, there is a request for Mr. Jokowi to serve as the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Golkar Party for the 2024-2029 period,” Ngabalin said on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
However, Ngabalin also noted that Golkar’s DPD 1 and DPD 2 (regional boards) have not yet reached an agreement on this proposal. He indicated that the regional representatives would discuss the matter further during Munas XI.
“This is something that will also be discussed because this forum consists of Golkar DPDs from across Indonesia, and the Golkar Central Executive Board (DPP) will continue to deliberate on it until a decision is reached,” Ngabalin explained.
Ngabalin emphasized that Golkar is a modern and open party. As such, he said, all developing aspirations will be deliberated upon in the Munas.
“The leadership of the Munas and all the participants will consider everything, and of course, there is the party’s Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART) to guide the process,” Ngabalin added.
He confirmed that the AD/ART would be a key topic of discussion at Munas XI.
“The Munas is the highest forum to carry out such deliberations,” he concluded.
Contradicting Ngabalin’s remarks, Adies Kadir, the Chairman of Munas XI, firmly denied that there was any proposal to appoint Jokowi as the Chairman of Golkar’s Advisory Board during the congress.

“There’s no such thing. There’s no proposal, including the idea of Pak Jokowi as Chairman of the Advisory Board. I want to emphasize again, no one from any organization mentioned Pak Jokowi,” Adies clarified.
He stated that discussions regarding any amendments to the AD/ART and the appointment of the Advisory Board would be handled by the commission meetings scheduled for Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
“Whether there will be changes to the AD/ART, whether the Advisory Board will be modified, or if the Chairman of the Advisory Board will be appointed tomorrow or by the party chairman, these matters will be decided during the commission meetings,” Adies concluded.
