Jakarta, Indonesia Sentinel — After testing the scorching Mandalika extreme heat Circuit, Fabio Quartararo, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP rider, was left overheated and quickly sought relief by plunging into an ice bath—inside a trash bin filled with cold water.
The intense heat at the Indonesian track took its toll on the French rider, leading him to take this unconventional approach to cool down.
Quartararo’s teammate, Alex Rins, followed suit, opting for a more standard ice bath to beat the heat. However, both riders struggled with the harsh temperatures, a challenge echoed by Takaaki Nakagami, a Japanese rider who also voiced his discomfort, calling the Mandalika Circuit “too hot.”
Mandalika extreme heat Temperatures during practice sessions reached about 40°C (104°F) on the track surface, but during the midday heat of race day, the asphalt hit an intense 51.4°C (124.5°F), pushing both riders and their bikes to the limit.

As MotoGP prepares for the race, the extreme conditions at Mandalika are proving to be one of the toughest challenges for all competitors.
Despite the extreme heat, David Alonso from the CFMoto Aspar team emerged victorious in the Moto3 Mandalika race on Sunday, September 29, 2024. Alonso showcased incredible skill and determination, executing a last-lap overtake to secure the win after 20 laps at the challenging Mandalika Circuit in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
Adrian Fernandez and David Munoz finished second and third, respectively, completing the podium behind Alonso. Their performances highlighted the competitiveness of the race in the intense conditions.
However, it was a disappointing day for Indonesia’s own Arbi Aditama, who crashed on the fifth lap and was unable to finish the race, much to the dismay of local fans.
