Jakarta, IndoensiaSentinel.com — Indonesia Defense Minister, Prabowo Subianto met with the King of Malaysia, His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, in Malaysia, Saturday, September 7, 2024. The meeting was held at the Kuala Lumpur State Palace to discuss strengthening defense cooperation and various other strategic issues between Indonesia and Malaysia.
Prabowo visited Malaysia after conducting a series of working visits to several countries, namely Brunei Darussalam, Laos, and Cambodia to meet the leaders of those countries. Prabowo also made an unofficial visit to Thailand to meet former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and the new Thai PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra
On this occasion, the President-elect of the Republic of Indonesia expressed his appreciation to Sultan Ibrahim for the warm welcome and hospitality given to Indonesia as a friendly country. As two related countries, Indonesia and Malaysia have a special relationship, especially in the field of defense.
“I appreciate the strong relationship between our two countries and will continue to strive to improve cooperation, especially in the field of defense,” Prabowo said in a written statement, Saturday.

Prabowo said that the Indonesian Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) is certainly committed to continue to explore the potential for cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of defense, and hopes for constructive discussions at this meeting.
“I appreciate your good wishes and hope that our partnership will continue to grow for the common good,” he said.
Within the framework of cooperation at the General Border Committee (GBC) Malindo meeting, regarding partnerships in the field of security in border areas, Indonesia hopes that the upcoming meeting at the 44th GBC Malindo can reaffirm the commitment and cooperation between the two countries in terms of safety, security and prosperity in the region.
