Bandung, IndonesiaSentinel.com — John Legend, the renowned American singer-songwriter, is set to perform on an exclusive concert in Indonesia on October 6, 2024, at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC) in Bogor, West Java. The concert, titled “An Evening With John Legend: A Night of Songs and Stories,” promises to be a unique experience for fans in the region.
Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, expressed his full support for the concert during “The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno” in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. “We deeply appreciate TGC Live and Lima Group for organizing ‘An Evening With John Legend’ on October 6, 2024. John Legend has won numerous prestigious awards, including Grammy Awards and Billboard Music Awards,” Sandiaga said.
Kiagoos Irvan Faisal, the Head of the International Events Task Force at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, emphasized the exclusivity of the event. “What makes this concert particularly special is its exclusivity. Just like Taylor Swift’s exclusive show in Singapore for Southeast Asia, John Legend will only perform in Indonesia and no other Southeast Asian country,” Irvan stated.
He added that this exclusive performance presents an excellent opportunity to attract more international tourists to Indonesia. “We hope to draw in a large number of international visitors, and we are ready to promote this concert on the Ministry’s social media platforms,” Irvan noted.
Zainal Arifin, Chairman of Lima Group, revealed that the concert is expected to attract around 10,000 attendees. According to him, preparations for the event are nearly complete. “We are 90% ready in terms of permits, artist logistics, and production arrangements,” Zainal said.
Music Concerts Become “Essential Need” for Generation Z in Indonesia
Bagus Septiaji, CEO of TGC Live, shared that the concert will be even more special with guest performances from legendary Malaysian singer Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza and rising Indonesian star Yura Yunita. “We extend our gratitude to the Minister and his team for their support in helping us bring this major event to life,” Bagus remarked.
During the briefing, Sandiaga also had the opportunity to interview John Legend virtually. Legend shared his excitement about the upcoming concert, explaining that it would offer fans a deeper look into his life and musical career. “This show is going to be really cool because I’ll be sharing a lot about myself and the things that have contributed to my success in music,” John said.
He also expressed interest in collaborating with Indonesian musicians. “You know, I haven’t collaborated with any local artists yet, but I’m looking forward to it, and I know there are some amazing Indonesian artists opening the show,” John added.
Before concluding, John Legend asked his Indonesian fans for travel recommendations, expressing his eagerness to explore the country. “I’ve only been to Jakarta and Bali, so you all need to tell me where I should go next,” he said with a smile.
The concert is shaping up to be a major event, with organizers expecting strong attendance from both domestic and international audiences, adding to Indonesia’s growing reputation as a top destination for world-class performances.
